But after a tough start, things seem to be turning in the right direction. "We have so many new faces. The first half of the year was tough," Wohler said. "We were kind of a woulda, coulda, shoulda team. We had a lot of close games where we led, but couldn't finish it off." The Spartans started the season 1-10 in their first 11 games, but have showed some life lately by winning three of their last four in the Wright County Conference. The Royals and Hornets met in the Lake Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday, Jan. 24, and the Royals showed that they are the team to beat this season with a convincing 68-46 victory. "We played hard tonight," Royals head coach Brian Cosgriff said after the victory. "We came into a pretty tough environment to play and we played hard and we were able to survive."
